Morgan Brown and his family lived in an apartment at this address. They moved to 26th Street from 1349 28th Street in 1929. Both of his parents came from Virginia. His great-grandfather was George Washington Bigby, an enslaved coachman in Queen City, Arlington, Va. Mr. Brown is credited with collecting signatures, along with Dr. C. Herbert Marshall of the Rock Creek Citizen’s Association, for the petition that successfully kept Rose Park integrated.
